His previous TEC candidate material describes a background as a former Army bomb-disposal officer with project-management experience in government and the private sector. Hans was overseas when I sent him my candidate questionnaire, but he took the time to provide brief answers to the issues I have been asking candidates about.
Here are Hans’s responses, in his own words:

PARKING
“Support continuation of free parking where possible and park and ride to support ferry operations.”

YEARLY HARD WASTE
“Support continuation.”

GREEN SPACES
“Support retention but open to review if areas particularly suitable for housing, in which case could support exchange for creation of new green spaces.”

ROAD REPAIRS
“Support increased investment to hit spots, eg Pass Road.”

DOG PARKS
“No change.”

DAP
“No position. Further information required.”

HOUSING AND DEVELOPMENT
“Strongly supportive, particularly to support inter generationally disadvantaged young.”

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
“Support increased investment if / when affordable.”

COASTLINE
“As someone who walks 7 Mile Beach every morning I strongly support measures to protect and enhance our coastlines.”

KANGAROO BAY DEVELOPMENT
“Whilst I acknowledge some local community desires for no development, I also acknowledge there may be broader community needs for some development, eg the golf course.”

PARTY ALIGNMENT
“None. Former Liberal Party member but now entrenched critic. Former senate candidate for the Science Party. Strongly opposed to One Nation and other populist parties.”
