Meet The Candidates

Candidates were asked to briefly address the 3 questions below at the beginning of their three-minute presentation, along with outlining key priorities and any other information they would like voters to know.

1. Are you currently, or have you ever been, affiliated with a political party? This includes being a member of a political party, standing as a party candidate in an election, working for, or volunteering on behalf of a political party.

2. Do you support the proposed Development Assessment Panel (DAP) legislation? The Tasmanian Government is proposing the introduction of Development Assessment Panels (DAPs), which would transfer responsibility for assessing and approving or refusing certain developments from local councils to independent panels. The proposal would also remove merits-based planning appeals, meaning community members would no longer be able to appeal planning decisions through the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT).

3. If elected, would you support a motion endorsing a Climate Compensation Fund? Clarence Climate Action has recently joined a national grassroots campaign calling on local councils to support the establishment of a Climate Compensation Fund, financed through a levy on coal, oil and gas exports.
